The annual school meetings held last Saturday night were sparsely attended in Shakopee, as usual; but the business of the meetings was carried out in satisfactory manner to all concerned. A levy of $2800 was voted in the Union district, and in 41 the sum of $300 was levied. Nine months of school was voted in either district, and both treasurers were re-elected, Wm. Willson in the Union, and Hubert Marx in the First ward.

New Mail Route Authorized Here
Extension of city mail‑delivery service to residents in a large area on the Westside was announced yesterday afternoon by Cormac A. Suel, Shakopee Postmaster.
Authorization for establishment of a mounted‑carrier route was received this week from the Post Office Department. Recommendation for the route was made by the postmaster about a month ago after a survey of the area.
The new route, which will be served from an automobile by Kenneth Eidsvold, carrier, will start at Scott and First street. The carrier will leave First street for one block, circle through the Shakopee cabin area, before again returning to the pavement.
At Third Street and T.H. 169, the route will move east over Third Street as far as the Stainless and Steel foundry corner. It will pass the foundry and Page & Hill Co. and then will include one block on Second street…

Shakopee School Board members and district administrators broke ground at the site of the city’s fourth grade school near the Southbridge Housing Development last week. … Site work on the $12.2 million school began this month. Completion of the 98,000‑square‑foot building is expected in August 2002, prior to the start of the 2002-03 school year.
