150 Years Ago: From the Sept. 7, 1876 Shakopee Argus
Hugh Blane, one of the early settlers of Eagle Creek, went to Texas last Spring with Mr. Frank Beisang, of the same place, and died there lately. Mr. Beisang is also sick, and will return to his old home in Eagle Creek.

Miss Katie Berens has accepted a position as teacher in the Marystown schools and took up her work there this week. The Sisters of St. Frances, who had charge of the schools last year, will not return, we understand, this year; and after the attendance grows, as it usually does with the close of the fall work on the farms, the other departments of the schools will be in charge of additional secular teachers, whose names have not yet been announced.

Peter Hauer has bought the Frank Huber residence property in East Shakopee and will move in from Eagle Creek with his family and take possession about November first. Mr. Huber’s plans are as yet not fully made. He has purchased a lot and a half of the northwest corner of Judge Weiland’s property south of the high school and expects to build but is not prepared to say whether or not it will be this fall owing to the difficulty of getting labor.

Boland establishes bridge steering committee
John Boland. Metropolitan Council chairman, announced Monday that he has invited more than a dozen local officials and citizens to a September 20 meeting to organize a Minnesota River crossing steering committee.
Boland said area legislators, representatives from Scott, Hennepin and Carver Counties, Shakopee, Savage, Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Prior Lake, the State Department of Transportation, and other affected jurisdictions and private interests have been asked to attend the organizational session…

Gary Lee has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Rahr Malting Co. effective Sept 1, the Minneapolis-based company announced last week.
