A handsome new center altar was dedicated at St. Mary’s church this morning at nine o’clock, when a Solemn high mass was said, Father O’Connor being assisted by Rev. Fr. Rhatigan of Hamilton and Rev. Fr. Kane of Rush City. The altar, which was built by F. X. Hirscher & Sons, is beautiful in design and appearance. It is finished in cream and gold and the architecture is of the Roman style. It contains four foot statues of St. Patrick and St. Anthony. In the front of the altar is a picture of the Last Supper painted in colors. The work reflects much credit on the builders, and the altar adds greatly to the interior appearance of the church. It is the gift of Mrs. John Murray of Staples in honor of her deceased parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Baldwin.
